E-book publishers fall into several categories, which are not always clearly separated. The ones below are just a small selection of what can be found on the Internet. None have been tried or tested by kobweb.
 

Free "Showcase" Websites

These sites will allow you to put samples or short works on their pages free of charge.

There are some out there, but until we get them listed you can always use the kobweb showcase!

Charging Display Sites

These sites make a charge for putting sample chapters on their pages, in the hope of directing buyers to you or your publishers.

Writers Craft £10/month for 1 chapter or 3 shorts.

Commission Publishers of Any Works

A charge is levied for advertising your book and handling electronic sales, but they will accept any work uncritically

Authors On Line £29.38 set-up then £10.18/month
Fatbrain / Mightywords (USA) $1/month hosting then 50% royalties given on electronic sales
Help4U Publishing*  from £79.75 setup, then costs of production. Mostly hardcopy, but some e-books
Online-e-bookstore £10-20 ($15-25) up-front then 50% royalty/commission split. Also competition entry

Commission Publishers of Selected Works

These companies will read your work before deciding whether to accept it. Some may offer paid-for editorial services before acceptance. They then advertise and sell your work on a commission basis / with royalties.

1stbooks.com*(USA) Setup usually under $500, Print-on-Demand available.
ebookedtioral.com / Pagination Press (USA) Appears to be commission only, on electronic sales.
Hard Shell Word Factory (USA) nothing up front, up to 30% royalty ($US)
Netspace Publishing - nothing up-front, up to 35% royalty on selling price of £2.99 or £3.49 for electronic copies.
Pickard Publishing* / reedmee.com - commission not clear.
Virtual Volumes 50% commission, but some used to offset set-up charge
WriteOnLine Publishing Company £4 setup, 50% royalties less £5/3months
